Two people were killed in a tragic accident in Himachal Pradesh’s Una district on Tuesday after a speeding car plunged into a deep gorge and caught fire, police said.
The incident occurred on the Una–Dharamshala highway near Chintpurni. Visuals from the scene indicate the severity of the crash, with the vehicle completely gutted in flames after falling into the gorge.
A CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced, showing a black car speeding towards Una moments before the accident. The footage appears to show flames emanating from the vehicle even before it reached a sharp bend. As the car approached the curve, it lost control, veered off the road near an under-construction building, and plunged into the gorge in a dramatic manner.
According to police, the vehicle caught fire after the crash, leading to the deaths of both occupants. One of the victims was reportedly charred beyond recognition.
Preliminary investigation suggests that a tyre burst may have caused the driver to lose control, which also possibly led to the fire, officials said.
The car’s registration details indicate that it was registered in Ludhiana, Punjab.
Police have initiated a detailed investigation into the incident.
