A routine look inside a household water tank in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar turned into a startling discovery after residents found dozens of baby snakes moving around inside the storage unit.
The incident was reported from Sarai village in Haridwar, where members of a family noticed unusual movement inside their water tank. On checking it closely, they found several snake hatchlings crawling inside the tank, as the household was left in a state of shock.
As news of the discovery spread, concerned residents informed the forest department. Officials soon arrived at the spot along with snake catchers Talib and Bhola, who launched a rescue operation to safely remove the reptiles from the tank.

Range Officer Shishpal Singh said that a total of 27 snake hatchlings were recovered during the exercise. The snakes were carefully taken out and relocated safely.
The rescue operation drew the attention of villagers, with a crowd gathering near the house to watch the unusual scene unfold. Many residents were rather surprised upon finding such a large number of snakes inside a domestic water tank.
Forest officials have not reported any injuries in the incident.
