K-pop girl group LE SSERAFIM have joined forces with Indian singer-songwriter Guru Randhawa for a remix of their track BOOMPALA, marking the first collaboration between the two acts.
Released on June 5, BOOMPALA (feat. Guru Randhawa) reimagines the original song from LE SSERAFIM’s second studio album PUREFLOW pt. 1. Built around a Latin house sound and incorporating elements of the globally recognised hit Macarena, the remix adds Guru Randhawa’s signature Punjabi-pop influences to the track.
This collaboration brings together one of K-pop’s leading girl groups and one of India’s most-streamed contemporary pop artists. Speaking about the project, LE SSERAFIM said they were excited to work with Guru Randhawa and felt his musical style brought a new dimension to the song. The group added that the track was originally created with the intention of bringing people together through a shared festival-like energy.
Guru Randhawa described the collaboration as an opportunity to blend different musical influences. “LE SSERAFIM is incredible and ‘BOOMPALA’ already has an infectious energy that reminds me of the massive, celebratory vibe we love in India. Bringing a touch of my signature style to a Latin-house K-pop track sampling ‘Macarena’ felt like a beautiful masterpiece,” he said.
The remix arrives amid strong commercial performance for LE SSERAFIM’s latest album PUREFLOW pt. 1. Released in May, the album debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 and topped Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart. It also surpassed 500,000 physical copies sold during its first week of release.
Meanwhile, BOOMPALA has gained traction internationally, debuting at No. 10 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart and entering multiple UK Official Charts, including the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads rankings.
Consisting of Kim Chaewon, Sakura, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha and Hong Eunchae, LE SSERAFIM debuted in 2022 under Source Music, a HYBE label.
For Guru Randhawa, the collaboration adds K-pop to a growing list of international partnerships. The singer, known for hits such as Patola, High Rated Gabru and Lahore, has previously worked with artists including Pitbull, Rick Ross, French Montana and The Chainsmokers.
BOOMPALA (feat. Guru Randhawa) is now available on streaming platforms worldwide.
