Entrepreneur-turned-actor Raj Kundra intervened at Mumbai airport after a female staff member was allegedly abused and intimidated by a passenger. According to eyewitnesses and the staff member, Kalavati Jadhav, the passenger behaved inappropriately, used abusive language and demanded that she use the buggy to take him wherever he wanted to go. A case has been registered against the passenger at Sahara Police Station.
Jadhav said Kundra was at the airport when the incident took place and stepped in after the passenger began creating a scene. She said he confronted the man, told him he could not speak to a woman in that manner and made him get off the buggy. Jadhav said she did not know at the time who had helped her and only realised later that it was Raj Kundra.
Describing the episode, Jadhav said the passenger kept yelling at her, tried to intimidate her and created a scene in front of everyone. She said he acted with a sense of privilege and continued to behave aggressively during the exchange.
Recalling the intervention, Jadhav said, “The passenger kept yelling, intimidating me, and creating a scene in front of everyone. Then, out of nowhere, a Sikh gentleman stepped forward.” She said he firmly told the passenger that his behaviour was unacceptable and that he could not speak to a woman in that way.
Jadhav said the passenger continued to act aggressively, after which the man who intervened removed him from the buggy. According to her, the passenger’s T-shirt was torn during the commotion.
She said, “At that moment, I did not know who that person was. I only knew that when I felt helpless and alone, someone had stood up for me. Later, I found out that the gentleman was none other than Raj Kundra.”
She added, “Many people know him as a public figure, but I will always remember him as the person who stood up for the dignity of a working woman when she was being mistreated.”
Thanking him, Jadhav said, “Raj ji, thank you so much for standing up for me, treating me with respect, and reminding me that there are still people in the world who step forward when they see something wrong happening. I will never forget your kindness and courage.”
