The political alignment in Tamil Nadu has changed as the Congress party breaks its alliance with the DMK to support the TVK. Five Congress legislators have officially extended their support to the TVK. The top Congress leadership is expected to attend the upcoming swearing-in ceremony. However, the TVK still requires eight additional members to reach the majority mark of one hundred and eighteen seats required to form the government. Negotiations are currently underway with other political factions, including the VCK and sections of the AIADMK, to secure the remaining numbers. The situation remains dynamic as parties deliberate on potential mergers and portfolio allocations in the next forty-eight to seventy-two hours.
