In a fresh twist to Tamil Nadu’s fast-evolving political drama, AMMK chief T. T. V. Dhinakaran on Friday, with the backing of his party’s lone MLA, wrote to the Governor urging him to invite Edappadi K. Palaniswami to form the government.
In the letter submitted to Raj Bhavan, Dhinakaran extended full support to Palaniswami’s claim, stating that AIADMK should be called to form the next government in the state.
“I hereby extend my full support to the claim of Thiru Edappadi K. Palaniswami to form the new Government of the State of Tamil Nadu,” he wrote. He also pointed out that his party has one MLA, Kamaraj S from Mannargudi, who has signed the letter backing the move.
The letter further requested the Governor to invite Palaniswami to take oath as Chief Minister, marking a significant intervention at a time when government formation remains uncertain.
Dhinakaran’s move comes even as TVK chief Vijay has been staking claim with support from Congress, Left parties and VCK, pushing his numbers close to the majority mark. The backing for AIADMK adds another layer of complexity to the numbers game, raising questions over whether alternative formations are still being explored behind the scenes.
