India’s biggest medical entrance exam is set to face fresh scrutiny in Parliament.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare will meet on June 10 to review the conduct of NEET under the provisions of the NMC Act, 2019. The meeting is part of the committee’s broader examination of the structure, mandate and efficiency of regulatory institutions under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
TOP OFFICIALS SUMMONED
The panel has called the Union Health Secretary and Higher Education Secretary to present their views. Senior officials from the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the National Testing Agency (NTA) have also been summoned.
The discussion is expected to focus on how NEET is conducted, the transparency of examination processes, accountability mechanisms and the effectiveness of regulatory oversight.

The review comes at a time when the medical entrance examination system continues to attract public attention and debate.
Committee members are expected to seek inputs on coordination between the NMC, NTA, the Health Ministry and the Education Ministry in conducting NEET and managing related processes.
With lakhs of students depending on the examination every year, the meeting could offer important insights into how India’s medical entrance system is governed and whether any reforms may be needed to strengthen public confidence in the process.
