NTA is facing fresh questions after several students who appeared for the NIFT 2026 entrance examination alleged discrepancies in their scorecards and attendance records.
Students have taken to social media claiming that the marks reflected in their results do not match their expectations. Some have also raised concerns about attendance records and the conduct of biometric verification at examination centres.
The NIFT 2026 results were declared on June 3. The admission process comprises two stages. In the first stage, candidates appear for the General Ability Test (GAT) and the Creative Ability Test (CAT). Those who qualify move on to the Situation Test.
Several students who spoke to India Today alleged significant discrepancies in their CAT scores.
The Creative Ability Test carries 100 marks and consists of three questions. Some candidates claimed they received only 15 to 17 marks despite expecting substantially higher scores.
Students pointed out that, unlike the General Ability Test, no answer key is released for the Creative Ability Test, making it difficult for candidates to independently assess their performance.
Concerns have also been raised regarding the General Ability Test.
Some candidates claimed that after comparing their responses with the official answer key released by the NTA, their calculated scores were considerably higher than the marks mentioned in their scorecards.
ATTENDANCE AND BIOMETRIC VERIFICATION CONCERNS RAISED
Apart from score-related complaints, some students alleged irregularities in attendance records.
According to candidates, a few students who appeared for the examination were initially marked absent. Others claimed they were marked present despite not having taken the exam.
Some aspirants also alleged that biometric verification was not conducted at their examination centres.
Responding to the allegations, senior NTA sources told India Today that only 15 candidates out of nearly 12,000 test-takers had approached the agency with result-related concerns.
The agency said all complaints received directly by it had been addressed and resolved. Officials also acknowledged that concerns regarding the results had been raised on social media platforms.
However, several students maintain that their grievances remain unresolved. They claim they have repeatedly contacted the NTA through emails and phone calls but have not received satisfactory clarification regarding their scores.
While some candidates who were initially marked absent have since received corrected scorecards, concerns over marks, attendance records and the examination process continue to be raised by a section of aspirants.
