Actor Anil Kapoor revisited an important phase from his early career as he celebrated 41 years of his 1985 film Yudh. The actor shared that while playing a double role came naturally to him, it was dancing with actor Hema Malini that left him intimidated.
Looking back at memories from the film that still stand out for him, Kapoor said he found it difficult to match Hema Malini’s screen presence, calling it the most challenging part of the experience.
On May 3, the actor shared a nostalgic still from the film on his Instagram Story and reflected on how the moment continues to stay with him even after 41 years.
He wrote, “41 years of Yudh and I still can’t forget this moment. Playing a double role was a breeze compared to dancing with Hema ji. That aspect of Yudh had me seriously nervous! She was already the biggest star of the country, with that larger than life presence and there I was, a skinny young boy just spouting Jhakaas and trying to keep up (sic)!”
The 69-year-old actor further described the experience as one of the most defining phases of his early journey in cinema. He said sharing the frame with a legend was both a learning experience and an overwhelming moment.
He added that his nerves remained high throughout the shoot.
Along with Anil Kapoor and Hema Malini, the film featured Jackie Shroff and Shatrughan Sinha in key roles.
Directed by Rajiv Rai, Yudh released in 1985 and marked his debut as a filmmaker. The story follows a mother whose twin sons are separated after being kidnapped and later grow up apart before confronting their past.
The ensemble cast also included Tina Munim, Pran, Danny Denzongpa and Nutan.
