tehran resident’s ‘normal day’ video during ceasefire surprises internet

An Instagram video titled “A day in Tehran during ceasefire,” shared by a user named Estelle, has gone viral for showing the city in a completely different light. Instead of sirens or destruction, the clip follows a routine day—one that feels familiar, even comforting.

The video begins with Estelle driving through busy city roads, where traffic moves as usual and people go about their day. She then stops by a roadside vendor, picking up a small cat plushie, before heading into a food court. There, she orders a baguette for lunch and browses through local snacks, including Iranian biscuits. Later, she is seen trying Korean food at a stall, adding to the mix of everyday experiences captured on camera.

As the day progresses, the tone remains calm. In the evening, Estelle visits a luxury hotel, where the atmosphere appears relaxed. People can be seen sitting in lounges, talking and enjoying themselves, with little visible sign of the tensions that have surrounded the region.

The video has drawn widespread reactions, with many viewers expressing surprise at how normal life looks during the ceasefire. Comments ranged from curiosity to admiration, with one user writing, “I wish the war was over. I would love to visit. Looks amazing,” while another said, “This is wonderful, thanks for filming and sharing.”

Iran has said the next move rests with Washington after the United States signalled scepticism over Tehran’s latest peace offer. Iran’s deputy foreign minister Kazem Gharibabadi told diplomats in Tehran that “the ball is in the United States’ court to choose the path of diplomacy or the continuation of a confrontational approach,” adding that Iran is “prepared for both paths.”

US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he would review a new peace proposal from Tehran but cast doubt on its prospects, stating that Iran had not yet “paid a big enough price.”
