Actor Akshay Kumar has undergone a minor eye surgery in Mumbai after wrapping up the Keralam schedule of his upcoming film with director Anees Bazmee. The actor is now expected to take a short break to recover following a packed work schedule.

According to a source close to the development, the procedure took place on Wednesday morning, May 6, and was done for vision correction.

“It was a minor surgery carried out on the morning of May 6. It was for vision correction. Akshay will now take a brief break and recuperate since he has also completed the Keralam schedule of his next film with Anees Bazmee,” the source told Hindustan Times.

The untitled film also stars Vidya Balan and Raashii Khanna. Akshay had recently shared an update from the Keralam schedule on Instagram, posting a picture with his co-stars and offering fans a glimpse from the sets.

The project marks Akshay and Vidya’s reunion after several successful collaborations over the years. It also brings Akshay back together with Bazmee after nearly 15 years.

One of the industry’s busiest actors, the 58-year-old recently delivered a hit with Bhooth Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan. He also has a packed slate ahead, including Welcome To The Jungle, Haiwaan, Golmaal 5 and the Marathi film Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat.

Meanwhile, Vidya was recently seen in Raja Shivaji, directed by Riteish Deshmukh, who also stars in the film. The historical drama released in theatres on May 1.

For now, Akshay is taking some time off to recover before resuming work on his upcoming projects.
