A Los Angeles court has handed Angelina Jolie a legal advantage in her ongoing dispute with former husband Brad Pitt over the French winery, Chateau Miraval.
In a recent order, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge ruled that Brad Pitt cannot compel Jolie to disclose a set of private emails linked to the sale of her stake in the property.
According to court documents cited by Page Six and TMZ, the judge found that Pitt “has not met his burden” to override Jolie’s claim that the emails are legally protected.
The motion was denied without prejudice, leaving room for Pitt to raise the issue again at a later stage.
The ruling specifically concerns 22 emails sought by Pitt’s legal team. The court held that the communications are protected under legal privilege, noting that while not all were strictly between attorney and client, they contained elements of legal strategy and are therefore exempt from disclosure.
This development follows a prior ruling in December 2025, when a judge had directed Jolie to hand over the emails. That decision was later found to be flawed, prompting a higher court to send the matter back for reconsideration.
Jolie had also sought nearly USD 34,000 in sanctions against Pitt’s legal team for attempting to compel the release of the emails, but that request was denied. Responding to the latest order, a source close to Pitt told TMZ that Jolie “shouldn’t be celebrating a potential temporary decision that allows them to keep information about her real intentions out of court.”
The dispute is part of a long-running legal battle between the former couple over Chateau Miraval, which they once co-owned and where they married.
The case dates back to 2022, when Brad Pitt filed a lawsuit alleging that Jolie sold her stake in the business without his consent, disrupting the winery’s operations. Jolie has maintained that she acted within her legal rights after negotiations between the two broke down.
Last month, the F1 actor also moved the court to prevent any delays in the trial, arguing that the ongoing dispute was denying him the “quiet enjoyment” of the property. The trial is currently scheduled for February 1, 2027, though Jolie has sought to push it to November 2027.
