Autorickshaw rides are rarely associated with comfort, but one Bengaluru auto driver is challenging that idea with a vehicle packed with unexpected features.
Poorna, who shared the video on Instagram, documented her ride inside the uniquely customised vehicle, giving viewers a glimpse of what felt less like public transport and more like a compact, moving lounge. From the moment she stepped in, it was clear this wasn’t an ordinary auto.
The clip shows a range of thoughtful additions designed to improve passenger comfort, especially in the city’s heat. Curtains had been installed along the sides to block out harsh sunlight, creating a cooler interior. A small fan added to the effect, while a charging point ensured riders wouldn’t have to worry about their phone battery running out mid-journey.
But what truly stood out was the presence of a tiny television unit, an unusual feature for an autorickshaw, along with what the video describes as a ‘reading nook’, giving the space a surprisingly cosy feel. The setup also appeared to support a social cause, adding a personal touch to the driver’s effort to go beyond the basics.
