The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has opened the re-evaluation window for Class 12 students who are dissatisfied with their board exam marks. Students who have already obtained scanned copies of their evaluated answer sheets can now apply for re-evaluation through the official CBSE portal.

The online application process is available on the CBSE re-evaluation portal, where candidates can log in, select the questions they wish to challenge and pay the prescribed fee.

ABOUT RE-EVALUATION FEE?

For the 2026 post-result process, CBSE has revised the fee structure as follows:

  • A scanned copy of the evaluated answer book is priced at Rs 100 per subject.

  • Verification of marks-related issues will be charged Rs 100 per subject.

  • Re-evaluation fee is fixed at Rs 25 per question.

A notable change this year is the introduction of a refund provision.

If a student’s marks increase after re-evaluation, CBSE will refund the fee paid for the re-evaluation of the question(s) that led to the increase in marks.

CAN YOUR MARKS CHANGE? YES

Following re-evaluation, a student’s marks may

  • Increase

  • Decrease

  • Remain the same

Any change made after the re-evaluation process is updated in the student’s official record and treated as the final score. CBSE has made it clear that the outcome of the re-evaluation process is final and binding on the candidate.

The opening of the re-evaluation window comes amid growing concerns over this year’s evaluation process. Several students have raised complaints regarding alleged marking discrepancies, particularly following the introduction of CBSE’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) system.
