IPL 2026, MI vs LSG: How Rohit Sharma vowed fans with stunning comeback vs LSG

ipl 2026, mi vs lsg: how rohit sharma vowed fans

Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh said fans got their money’s worth after Rohit Sharma delivered a match-winning performance in Mumbai Indians’ IPL 2026 clash against Lucknow Super Giants on Monday at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Rohit scored 84 off 44 balls, including six fours and seven sixes, as MI chased down 229 in 18.4 overs to win by four wickets.

When Suryakumar Yadav announced at the toss that Rohit would be making his comeback, the Wankhede Stadium erupted in loud cheers. After Rohit’s match-winning knock, Harbhajan said fans felt it was complete ‘paisa vasool’ watching him put his best foot forward in Mumbai.

“Rohit’s return truly brought life back to this ground. You could hear the roar everywhere, the chants of his name echoing all around. He didn’t disappoint at all, played a superb innings, and entertained everyone. Many people who were already leaving after the match, said it was ‘paisa vasool (worth the money)” just to watch Rohit Sharma bat today,” Harbhajan told the broadcasters.

‘WISH HIS INJURY HEALED EARLIER’

Harbhajan said he wished Rohit Sharma had recovered earlier from his hamstring injury, believing Mumbai Indians could have won more matches. He added that MI should aim to win all their remaining games, reach 14 points, and then assess how net run rate or even weather factors like rain could influence their play-off chances.

“I only wish his injury had healed earlier. Had he played those earlier matches that were lost, Mumbai might have had a chance to win some of them too, which could have improved their path forward.

“From here, I would say if they win all their matches, at least give yourselves a chance. Reach 14 points first, and then see what happens. You never know rain might come into play, the net run rate might shift, things can change suddenly,” Harbhajan added.

Despite the win over Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians remained ninth on the table with six points and a net run rate of -0.649. They will aim to carry forward their winning momentum when they face Royal Challengers Bengaluru, led by Rajat Patidar, on Sunday, May 10 at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium.
