Nagpur mall lift failure: Six trapped at Fortune Mall rescued after glass broken

nagpur mall lift failure: six trapped at fortune mall rescued

A sudden lift failure at a mall in Maharashtra turned into a frightening ordeal after six people were trapped inside for a prolonged period, struggling to breathe before breaking the glass to escape.

The incident took place in Nagpur’s Sitabuldi area at Fortune Mall, where the lift reportedly malfunctioned without warning, leaving those inside stuck for several minutes.

Those trapped said the situation quickly became distressing. With no ventilation and no immediate rescue, they began to feel suffocated.

“We were stuck inside for a long time. It became difficult to breathe and we felt suffocated,” one of the occupants said.

According to those inside the lift, repeated calls were made to the mall management, but there was no immediate action to get them out.

They claimed that despite informing authorities multiple times, help did not arrive quickly enough, worsening the panic inside the enclosed space.

With the situation turning critical and anger mounting among people present at the mall, the glass of the lift was eventually broken to rescue those trapped.

Occupants said the delay forced them to take extreme steps. “Even after informing them again and again, there was a delay. Finally, when people protested, the glass was broken and we were taken out safely,” one of them said.

All six people were rescued without injuries, but the incident has raised fresh questions over emergency response systems and safety measures in public spaces.
