Indian cricketer Rohit Sharma is set to make his television debut. A teaser of the show featuring the cricketing icon was launched on Friday, built around his viral on-field remark, “Koi bhi garden mein nahi ghumega (No one will roam around in the garden).” The promo went viral in no time.
While no details about the show or its genre has been revealed yet, the teaser hints that a fun-filled experience is in store. In the clip, Sharma seems to be tired of constant reference to his garden comment by fans. He says, “Do line kya bol di, itna viral ho gaya. Jab mera poora show aayega toh kya hoga (If just two lines of mine went viral, imagine what will happen when my full show is released)?”
The teaser was released by Sony Pictures Networks India. In the video, excited fans surround Sharma and repeatedly ask him to say the now well-known “garden” line, turning the moment into the centrepiece of the announcement.
A fan commented, “Blockbuster (sic).” Another fan wrote, “Excited (sic).” An X user also reacted with fire emoji.
Sony has not yet revealed whether the show will be a comedy, talk show, game show or a reality-based format, but the clip points to Sharma’s humour and easy manner playing a key role. The network described it as one of the biggest entertainment debuts of the year and captioned the video, “Are you ready for the Biggest Entertainment Debut (sic)?”
Rohit Sharma‘s 2024 appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show
Sharma’s memorable screen appearance happened on The Great Indian Kapil Show in 2024 after India’s heartbreaking loss in the 2023 ODI World Cup final.
The Mumbai Indians star’s witty reply quickly went viral among fans. While acknowledging that such requests do occur, the cricketer hilariously revealed that his own stakes are much higher. “You have your girlfriend in the stands. But, my wife has come to watch me play. That poor woman keeps her fingers crossed throughout the match. She’s more important to me,” he quipped, sparking a wave of laughter from the crowd.
A few months ago, actor Anupam Kher shared a picture of an accidental meeting with Sharma in a vanity van. In his post, he called the Indian cricketer the “greatest cool dude.”
Sharma’s upcoming show will air on Sony Entertainment Television and stream on Sony LIV. More details about his television debut are awaited.
