Samsung has announced discounts on select Galaxy M and F series smartphones starting May 8. A move that comes amid rising prices across the industry driven by a global memory chip shortage. Coinciding with this, Flipkart is also gearing up for its Sasa Lele sale from May 9, which is expected to bring price cuts across top brands including Apple, Google, Samsung, and more. For anyone considering a new smartphone purchase, the timing could not be better. Samsung’s discounts cover devices in the Rs 18,999 to Rs 33,999 price range, with savings of up to Rs 12,000.
Samsung devices receiving price cuts
Starting with Samsung’s M series, the brand is bringing significant price cuts to four of its Galaxy smartphones. The entry-level Galaxy M17e 5G sees the steepest discount, dropping from Rs 18,999 to Rs 12,499 — a saving of Rs 6,500. The smartphone features a display with up to 120Hz refresh rate, a 6000mAh battery, and a 50MP dual camera system for quality photos. The company claims to offer six OS upgrades with six years of security updates.
The Galaxy M17 5G follows with a Rs 7,000 reduction, bringing its price down from Rs 20,999 to Rs 13,999. The device carries a 50-megapixel main camera with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), a 5-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro sensor. On the front, it features a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, offering a 90Hz refresh rate.
Moving up the lineup, the Galaxy M36 5G gets a Rs 10,000 price cut, falling from Rs 26,999 to Rs 16,999. It is powered by the Exynos 1380 and has a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The biggest saving of the M lineup is the Galaxy M56 5G, which drops by Rs 12,000 from Rs 33,999 down to Rs 21,999. It packs a 50MP OIS triple camera setup. A 12-megapixel front HDR camera and Exynos 1480 processor with LPDDR5X RAM.
Moving on to the Galaxy F series, the Galaxy F70e 5G is being brought down from Rs 18,999 to Rs 12,499, offering a saving of Rs 6,500. The smartphone sports a 6.7-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a 50-megapixel dual rear camera system with Night Mode, and an 8-megapixel front camera for selfies. Keeping it running is a 6,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging support. Samsung is also backing the device with six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy F36 5G sees a more substantial Rs 10,000 reduction, dropping from Rs 26,999 to Rs 16,999. The smartphone features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, paired with a 50-megapixel OIS triple rear camera system.
