The Government of Telangana has announced a major initiative aimed at strengthening higher education opportunities for minority communities across the state.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said the government will establish special degree colleges for minorities in the headquarters of 10 districts in Telangana.
The announcement was made during a high-level review meeting on minority welfare held on Friday.
AI, SKILLS AND JOBS AT THE CENTRE
Unlike traditional colleges, the proposed institutions will focus strongly on employability and practical learning. According to the Chief Minister, the colleges will include:

Skill development programmes

Artificial Intelligence (AI) training

Practical and job-oriented education
Revanth Reddy said the aim is not just to provide degrees, but to help students become employment-ready in a rapidly changing job market.
He stressed that educational institutions should directly benefit students by improving their career opportunities rather than limiting them to conventional academic courses.
SPECIAL SUPPORT FOR MERITORIOUS STUDENTS
The Chief Minister also suggested extending incentives to minority students similar to the benefits currently provided to meritorious students from BC, SC, and ST communities.
Officials have been asked to prepare a dedicated support programme specifically for minority students to encourage higher education and career growth.
YOUTH MENTORSHIP AND WELFARE PLANS
During the meeting, the CM directed officials to identify minority candidates selected in:

Group-1 services

Group-2 services
-
Group-3 services
These candidates may be given responsibilities within the Minority Welfare Department and mentored to better understand government schemes and welfare programmes.
The government believes this will strengthen participation and representation within public administration.
FOCUS ON COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE
The meeting also covered several welfare and infrastructure-related decisions.
The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure timely payment of honorariums to Imams and Mouzams. He also announced that land would be allocated for ‘Khabarstans’ (burial grounds) wherever land is available.\
