Varun Dhawan proposal to Natasha Dalal did not go as planned Actor spills details

varun dhawan proposal to natasha dalal did not go as

Actor Varun Dhawan shared that his proposal to wife Natasha Dalal did not unfold the way he had planned. Speaking on comedian Tanmay Bhatt’s reaction show on YouTube, Varun said the moment in Alibaug turned messy, and Natasha realised what was happening before he could pull it off properly.

Varun recalled that he had planned the proposal around a swim and a song, but the timing went wrong. By the time he got the ring, Natasha had already stepped out of the pool. He said he fumbled the proposal a few times and added that real-life proposals are not as perfect as they look in films.

Sharing the details, Varun said, “We were in Alibaug. I played singer Marc Anthony’s You Sang To Me. Thought we would go swimming, and I would pop the question as she came out of the pool. I was f**king around till then. By the time I got the ring, she had got out of the pool.”

He said the plan kept slipping from his hands after that. According to Varun, he then asked his friends to keep Natasha in one place and not let her walk around, as she kept moving to get a drink and then to eat salad. He said, “She actually came to know I was proposing, it was a bad proposal. I had to play the song three times in a row!”

More about their relationship

Varun and Natasha are childhood sweethearts. Varun reportedly first met Natasha when they were in sixth grade. They began as close friends and later started dating. The two got married in 2021 and have a daughter, Lara.

In 2019, Varun had spoken about Natasha and their relationship on Koffee With Karan. The actor said that one of the things he admires most about her is her strong sense of individuality. He expressed that Natasha has always had her own ambitions and voice, and that he wants to support her dreams just as she has supported his career from the very beginning.

“She has been very supportive of my career since day one. I have known her since school. We were friends then. Since day one, she has been supportive of my dreams. It has to be the same. From my side, I have to be supportive of her dreams. Eventually, as a couple, you want to evolve together,” he added.

Varun spoke about the proposal while promoting his latest film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, co-starring Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde. The film, directed by his father David Dhawan, opened to mixed reviews.
