Rishabh Pant’s Lucknow Super Giants continued their downward slide in the Indian Premier League after a six-wicket defeat to the Mumbai Indians in their IPL 2026 clash on Monday, May 4 at the Wankhede Stadium. With six consecutive losses, LSG are languishing at the bottom of the table, their playoff hopes hanging by a thread.
After the match, Pant cut a helpless figure and admitted that the Super Giants are in desperate need of some luck heading into their remaining five matches of the season. The LSG skipper added that the team could do with a bit of fortune going their way if they are to turn things around.

“I think we need some good luck, man. That’s the only thing I’m going to say. (how to find the luck?) Yeah, I think a lot of blessing is going to work around it. And it’s going to take some more effort from us, for sure,” Pant said while speaking to the broadcasters after the match.
‘WE WERE 10-15 RUNS SHORT’
After being asked to bat first, the Super Giants managed 228 for five, a total that proved insufficient as Mumbai chased it down with eight balls to spare. Rishabh Pant admitted that the Super Giants fell well short of the total they had aimed for and added that it would be unfair to blame the bowlers, who have consistently delivered for the team.
“See, definitely, we were short 10-15 runs because it was a 220-230 wicket for sure. And the way we started, we had that edge over them. But at the same time, in a wicket like this, you can’t blame bowlers all the time. They’ve been doing a fantastic job for us. So definitely can’t say much to them, for sure,” Pant added.
The Lucknow Super Giants will have plenty of introspection to do when they next face Royal Challengers Bengaluru, led by Rajat Patidar, on Thursday, May 7 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.
