The Directorate of Education, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, has announced a structured academic plan for government schools during the upcoming summer vacation.

As per the official circular, all government schools will observe summer holidays from 11 May 2026 to 30 June 2026.

However, before the full vacation period begins, remedial classes for students of Classes 9, 10, and 12 will be conducted from 11 May to 23 May 2026 to strengthen academic performance and improve learning outcomes.

The initiative is aimed at helping students revise key concepts and prepare better for board-level and critical examinations.

WHAT THE OFFICIAL CIRCULAR SAYS

According to the Directorate of Education circular, remedial sessions will be held depending on staff availability and school infrastructure.

In double-shift schools, classes will be conducted in separate wings to ensure smooth functioning. School heads have been instructed to prepare timetables in advance and submit them to the respective District Deputy Director of Education (DDE).

Students and parents must be informed through all available communication channels.

FOCUS ON SCIENCE, MATHS AND CORE SUBJECTS

For Classes 9 and 10, the primary focus of remedial teaching will be Science and Mathematics, though school heads may adjust subjects based on academic needs and performance analysis.

For Class 12 students, subjects will be decided by the Head of School depending on exam requirements and student performance.

The aim is to provide targeted academic support, especially to students who need extra help in key subjects.

DAILY ROUTINE AND TIMETABLE

Remedial classes will follow a fixed schedule:

  • Students: 7:30 am to 10:30 am

  • Teachers: 7:20 am to 11:00 am

  • Three one-hour periods daily

    • 7:30 am – 8:30 am

    • 8:30 am – 9:30 am

    • 9:30 am – 10:30 am

Attendance will be recorded online, and students must wear school uniforms during classes.

Parental consent (NOC) is mandatory for participation.

TEACHING SUPPORT AND FACILITIES

Schools have been instructed to ensure clean drinking water, basic facilities, and access to library resources for self-study. Individual attention will be encouraged to improve student performance.

Guest and contract teachers may also be engaged if required, especially where regular staff is unavailable. Teachers assigned during the remedial period will be granted earned leave, while guest teachers will be paid as per rules.

MONITORING AND IMPLEMENTATION

District-level education officers have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the programme. Officials will conduct regular school visits during the remedial session period to monitor progress.

The initiative reflects the Delhi government’s focus on strengthening foundational learning and improving board exam outcomes through structured academic support during vacations.
