Delhi’s Kirti Nagar Police Station viral video shows woman slapping guard over stray dog – Delhi News

delhi

A woman allegedly assaulted a security guard outside the Kirti Nagar Police Station in West Delhi on Friday, slapping him and hitting him with a slipper after he chased away a stray dog with a stick. A video of the incident, filmed at the police station gate, has since gone viral on the Internet.

According to police, the altercation stemmed from an earlier incident in which a stray dog reportedly bit a passerby in the area. The security guard, who was present at the spot, tried to drive the dog away by hitting it with a stick. The woman, described as an animal lover, objected to his actions and confronted him.

The video shows the woman approaching the guard, slapping him multiple times and later striking him with her slipper, while several people, including police personnel, stand nearby. The apparent lack of intervention by officers present at the scene has drawn attention and criticism online.

Officials said the incident occurred on Friday, but no formal complaint has been filed by the security guard so far. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (West District) confirmed that no case has been registered in the matter yet.

The footage has sparked a debate over both the treatment of stray animals and the response of law enforcement personnel. While some social media users condemned the assault on the guard, others questioned the use of force against the stray dog.

The presence of police officers at the scene, without any visible attempt to stop the altercation, has also raised concerns about enforcement of law and order, especially given that the incident took place directly outside a police station.

Police said they are aware of the viral video and are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident. Further action, if any, will depend on whether a complaint is filed or if authorities take suo motu cognisance of the matter.
