Royal Challengers Bengaluru legend Virat Kohli paused his pre-match warm-up routine in Raipur to watch Urvil Patel on TV. Urvil, batting against Lucknow Super Giants, played an absolute blinder of an innings, equalling the fastest-ever fifty in the Indian Premier League.
The moment came right before Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s home game against Mumbai Indians at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium. Kohli was on the sidelines, hydrating himself midway through his warm-up routine. He watched Urvil Patel smashing massive sixes at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk and stopped in front of the TV. What was supposed to be a brief pause turned into a proper one for Kohli, who took his time to enjoy the innings.
Urvil Patel played an absolute blinder against Lucknow Super Giants, bringing up his fifty in just 13 balls. He slammed five sixes in five consecutive deliveries, which helped him equal the record for the fastest fifty in the history of the Indian Premier League.

Urvil was finally dismissed after hammering 65 runs off just 23 balls, an innings that played a massive role in Chennai Super Kings bagging two points against Lucknow Super Giants. Urvil came out to bat in the 4th over of the match after CSK lost the wicket of opener Sanju Samson.
Urvil did not hold back from the very start of his innings and smashed Avesh Khan for 3 back to back sixes. Urvil then took the attack to Digvesh Rathi, who helped CSK bag back to back 25-run overs against LSG.
After completing his fifty, the batter was lucky to be dropped by Rathi at short-fine leg, but he was not able to capitalise on that chance. Urvil’s mega barrage of shots helped CSK complete the chase, despite slowing down heavily after his dismissal. Despite the rapid innings, Urvil was not able to win the player of the match award, which went to fast bowler Jamie Overton for his sensational spell of 3/36 in 4 overs.
CSK’s win brought them up to the fifth spot in the league table. They have 12 points after playing 11 games.
