The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has launched its official JoSAA Counselling Helpdesk 2026 to assist JEE Advanced-qualified candidates during the seat-allocation process. Managed by the institute’s Academics and Career Council (AnC), the initiative connects aspirants with verified IIT Kanpur student mentors who can provide guidance on branch selection, academics, placements, campus life, and other counselling-related queries.
The institute has also announced an online JoSAA Open House on June 9, where candidates and their parents can interact with IIT Kanpur’s leadership and faculty members to gain a better understanding of the academic opportunities and student life offered at the institute.
OFFICIAL WHATSAPP HELPDESK FOR ASPIRANTS
The helpdesk operates through an official WhatsApp community that became active on June 2, 2026, immediately following the declaration of JEE Advanced 2026 results. The platform connects aspirants directly with current IIT Kanpur students from various academic departments, enabling candidates to access reliable information and authentic insights from verified student mentors.
The community features department-specific doubt groups, general discussion forums, and dedicated announcement channels to ensure that aspirants receive timely updates and accurate guidance throughout the counselling period.

WHAT GUIDANCE WILL STUDENTS RECEIVE?
Through the helpdesk, candidates can engage directly with student volunteers from departments they are considering for admission, gaining valuable perspectives on academics, campus life, and future opportunities.
Key areas of guidance include:
- Branch selection and preference ordering during JoSAA counselling
- Personalised department-specific guidance from current students
- Academic curriculum and flexibility at IIT Kanpur
- Placements, internships, research opportunities, and higher studies
- Student clubs, festivals, hostel life, and campus facilities
COUNSELLING SUPPORT TO CONTINUE THROUGH JULY
The JoSAA 2026 registration and choice-filling process will remain open until June 11, 2026, followed by mock seat allocations and subsequent seat-allocation rounds.
The helpdesk will continue to operate throughout the counselling cycle, remaining active until the completion of seat allocation in mid-July 2026 to provide continuous support to aspirants.
ABOUT THE ACADEMICS AND CAREER COUNCIL
The Academics and Career Council (AnC) serves as IIT Kanpur’s principal student body for academic support, career development, and student welfare. Working in close collaboration with students, faculty, and the administration, the Council regularly conducts mentorship programmes, academic support initiatives, and counselling activities.
The JoSAA Helpdesk remains one of its flagship annual initiatives aimed at assisting prospective students.

IIT KANPUR TO HOST JoSAA OPEN HOUSE ON JUNE 9
In addition to the helpdesk, IIT Kanpur will organise an online JoSAA Open House on June 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM for JEE Advanced 2026 qualified candidates and their parents.
The session will feature the Director of IIT Kanpur, along with Deans and senior faculty members, who will provide an overview of the Institute’s academic programmes, research ecosystem, campus life, placement opportunities, and student support systems.
The Open House will also include an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing participants to directly engage with Institute leadership and seek clarifications regarding academics, student life, placements, research opportunities and the JoSAA counselling process.
