Kolkata Knight Riders have continued their remarkable comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. After beginning their campaign without a single win in their first six matches, they appeared on the verge of an early exit from the tournament. However, Ajinkya Rahane’s men have now put together four consecutive victories and climbed to seventh place in the points table.
DC vs KKR: HIGHLIGHTS | SCORECARD
On Friday, the Knight Riders defeated Delhi Capitals by eight wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Chasing a target of 143, the three-time champions completed the chase in just 14.2 overs. The spin trio of Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine and Anukul Roy strangled the DC batting lineup before Finn Allen’s stunning 47-ball century guided KKR home in emphatic fashion.
Rahane had earlier come under criticism for his captaincy when KKR were struggling and looked completely out of sorts. However, the veteran has shown tremendous composure and leadership to keep KKR alive in the playoff race. The big question now is what more KKR need to do to secure a place in the playoffs, and how difficult the road ahead will be from here on.
KKR CAN STILL GO THROUGH SMOOTHLY
The 2026 season is the sixth edition of the IPL featuring 10 teams. On every previous occasion, teams with 16 or more points have qualified for the playoffs without having to rely on net run rate calculations.
If KKR manage to win their remaining four matches, they will add eight more points to their tally and finish with 17 points overall, which should secure direct qualification without depending on complicated permutations and combinations. However, if they lose even one more game, net run rate could come into the equation.
The Knight Riders will next face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Wednesday, May 13, at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur. A victory in that clash would firmly keep KKR in the race for a playoff berth while also putting added pressure on the other teams battling for a place in the top four.
