kiara advani recalls emotional phase after childbirth and how sidharth

Actor Kiara Advani has spoken about the postpartum phase after childbirth, sharing the emotional changes she experienced and the support she received from her husband, actor Sidharth Malhotra. In a conversation on Figuring Out with Raj Shamani, Kiara broke down reflecting on life after becoming a mother in July 2025 and described the period as deeply transformative.

She said the months after childbirth brought a major identity shift and took time to understand. Kiara said the experience felt overwhelming at first and that in the initial months, it was difficult to be kind to herself.

‘There’s such an identity shift’

Speaking about that period, an emotional Kiara said it took her months to begin processing what she was going through. “There’s such an identity shift. It’s a completely new world,” she said, adding that it took time for her to understand her emotions.

She said it took her nearly six months to consciously tell herself to slow down and make space for her own feelings. For someone who had always prioritised others, Kiara said, the phase pushed her to build a relationship with herself, something she now sees as a turning point.

“You realise you’re doing so much for everyone else. You forget about the relationship you need to have with yourself. The things you need to tell yourself. I’ve been so other-centric. What’s changed since my baby was born is that I finally found the time to nurture that relationship that I need to have with myself, and it’s probably the best thing,” the 34-year-old said.

How Sidharth showed up

Kiara also spoke about husband Sidharth Malhotra’s role during this period, saying he made small but meaningful efforts despite a busy work schedule. She said there were days when her emotions felt overwhelming and even the smallest things could bring her to tears.

During that time, she said, Sidharth was busy promoting his film but still made it a point to spend time with her, often visiting her at her mother’s home late at night after work. At her doctor’s suggestion, he also began taking her out for short drives every night, a routine that helped her step out, breathe and feel a sense of normalcy.

“In those early days, I was extremely emotional – the smallest things would trigger tears, something we laugh about now. On our doctor’s advice, he started taking me out for a drive every night. It was something very simple, but it helped me step out, get some fresh air and break that overwhelming routine,” Kiara recalled.

Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani married in February 2023 and welcomed their daughter, Saraayah, in July 2025. Work-wise, Kiara is gearing up for the release of her Kannada film Toxic, co-starring Yash, Nayanthara and Tara Sutaria.
