Three members of Santiago Martin’s family, popularly known as the lottery king of India, have ensured their victories in the recently concluded assembly elections in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
The heaviest among these three members is Aadhav Arjuna Reddy, one of the most trusted lieutenants of actor-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). Arjuna contested from the Villivakkam constituency and secured a handsome win with a margin of 17,302 votes. Arjuna is married to Daisy Martin, Santiago Martin’s daughter. He was also the general secretary of TVK’s election win.
Other than Arjuna, Martin’s wife, Leema Rose Martin, also secured a victory from Tamil Nadu’s Lalgudi constituency. Leema contested on an All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) ticket and faced a tough fight against the DMK and TVK candidates in that constituency. However, she emerged victorious with a slender margin of nearly 2,500 votes.
SUCCESS FOR JOSE CHARLES MARTIN
In its debut assembly election, the Latchiya Jananayaka Katchi party, a part of the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), put up a good show as it won one out of two seats it contested.
The party was launched last December by Jose Charles Martin, who contested from the Kamaraj Nagar assembly constituency, and secured a victory with a margin of 10,205 votes.
Charles Martin is the son of Santiago Martin and is also an entrepreneur by profession.
