After an outswinger, Prince brought one back sharply at 140.4 kph, drawing Kohli forward before it seamed through the gate and uprooted the off stump, leaving him stunned.

It was the first time in nine years that Kohli registered a duck in a run chase, the previous instance coming against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2017 at the Eden Gardens. Post-match, Prince shared that Kohli had advised him to stick to a consistent length when seam and swing are available, a tip he cleverly applied to dismiss him.

“After the last match, I was talking to Virat bhaiya and he only told me – as long as it’s moving around off a length, stick to that length,” Prince said after LSG beat RCB by nine runs (DLS).

PRINCE YADAV KEEPS RISING

Prince Yadav also dismissed Devdutt Padikkal and Jitesh Sharma to finish with impressive figures of 4-0-33-3. Although he conceded 13 runs in his final over as Krunal Pandya and Romario Shepherd counter-attacked, his earlier spell had already put Lucknow Super Giants in a commanding position.

Prince is currently the leading wicket-taker for the Super Giants in the ongoing competition, with 16 wickets from 10 matches, including two three-wicket hauls. He began the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru with a misfield that resulted in a boundary, but quickly recovered to deliver a match-defining performance.

With the win, LSG kept their playoff hopes alive, ending a six-match losing streak. However, they remain bottom of the table with six points and a net run rate of -0.934, despite finally breaking an eight-match home losing run.

The Super Giants will now aim to carry forward their winning momentum when they face Chennai Super Kings, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, on Sunday, May 10 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
