A Dutch woman travelling solo across India on a motorcycle has won hearts online after sharing how three strangers came to her rescue when she found herself stranded on a highway with a damaged bike.

The traveller, Meike Hijman, documented the incident in a now-viral Instagram video. What started as a smooth road trip quickly turned stressful when her motorcycle developed a puncture in the middle of the journey. Alone on an unfamiliar highway and unsure how to fix the problem, she admitted she had begun panicking.

But before the situation could worsen, three local men noticed her standing by the roadside and stopped to help. The video shows them inspecting the motorcycle, trying to fix the tyre and eventually guiding her towards a mechanic nearby.

Rather than treating her like a tourist passing through, the men simply stepped in the way people often do during road emergencies, quietly, practically and without expecting anything in return.

In the clip, Hijman explains that she did not have the tools or experience needed to repair the bike herself. “They stopped for me,” she says, sounding visibly relieved as the men help her continue the journey.

The interaction resonated strongly online, with many users saying the video captured a side of India that often goes unnoticed on social media. Several people shared stories of strangers helping them during breakdowns and difficult situations while travelling.

One user commented, “This is the India most travellers remember,” while another wrote, “Kindness on highways is still very real here.”

Hijman, who has been travelling through different parts of India on her motorcycle, frequently posts videos of her experiences with locals, roadside food stalls and rural landscapes. But this particular clip struck a deeper emotional chord because of how ordinary the act was.

There was no dramatic rescue, no grand gesture, just three strangers on a highway who saw someone struggling and decided not to drive past.
