Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam chief Vijay is leading in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, with his party crossing 100 of the state’s 234 seats. Amid congratulatory messages on what has been described as his historic political debut, Jana Nayagan producer Venkat K Narayana shared a statement on Vijay’s performance in the election.
The message was posted on the official X handle of KVN Productions, which has produced Jana Nayagan. The statement read: “Heartiest congratulations to our ‘Jana Nayagan’, Thalapathy Vijay sir, on scripting history today against all odds. It is indeed a revolution and one that will echo for generations to come. – Venkat K Narayana (KVN) (sic).”
Several fans and supporters reacted to the post and asked for a new title card for Vijay that would mention “CM Thalapathy Vijay”. A fan commented, “A leader isn’t announced he’s chosen by the people. Tamil Nadu is ready (sic).” Another fan wrote, “Most happiest Person in world (fire and laughing emojis) (sic).”
An X user wrote, “Dear KVN PRODUCTIONS WE WILL MAKE ANOTHER MASSIVE VICTORY OF Jana Nayagan with record collection. Pls release no further wait (sic).”
Another user commented, “Yo Jana Nayagan will finally release, congratulations Vinay Anna from SRK fans (prayer and heart emojis)..@actorvijay (sic).”
A fan wrote, “Please change title card to Chief minister of Tamil Nadu “VIJAY” (sic).”
Jana Nayagan was scheduled for release in January, but was postponed after it did not receive certification from the Central Board of Film Certification. After the CBFC raised objections to some of the film’s content, the makers moved to court. The matter remains sub judice, and the film’s release is stalled. In April, the film was leaked online, raising concerns about piracy in the Tamil film industry.
Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan is being billed as Vijay’s final film as he enters politics with TVK. The film also features Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol. It was originally slated for a Pongal theatrical release, but was delayed because of the certification issues.
The official release date of the film is yet to be announced.
